Celebrating 6 years – where has the time gone?

Well the 2022 season brings to us lots of events, new locations and good times as always. It’s been a while since we have written in the “blog” so we thought we would give a little update.

We are celebrating 6 years in business this year and with it comes a MUCH LARGER TRAILER with new graphics, our slogan, website and phone number to reach us multiple ways!

This year’s season begins at the Sun Prairie Farmers Market on Saturday May 7 bright ad early at 7am until Noon. You will find us at the far end of Market Street closer to the Nitty Gritty. Just look for the big blue trailer!

Here is a picture of the new trailer that will be ready to roll sometime in May. Until then the suspense has us going crazy!

We hope to see you this season, and remember if you stop by and say hi make sure to mention you saw our website for a free bag of regular kettle corn!!

Where has the season gone???

Oh my goodness the 2019 season is almost over with only September and October left of popping to go.

This season has blessed us with popping at the Sun Prairie Farmers Market, having a stand at the DeForest Farmers Market, Taste of Sun Prairie, Dragon Arts Festival, supporting Occupaws of Dane County and popping at their Summer event in Lake Mills and of course popping up bulk batches for weddings and a couple of family reunions.

Seriously where has the time gone?  This summer we introduced on a regular event basis Sconnie Korn (AMAZING blend of Kettle, Caramel and Cheese), Caramel, Matty Mix (special blend of kettle and caramel corn) and we just launched BADGER KORN, which is Caramel and Cheese, oh my goodness it’s divine!!!

Make sure to keep following us on Facebook and Instagram to see where we will be popping next and where our final pop will be.  This year we will be with our amazing friends out at Enchanted Valley Acres on Hwy P, just outside of Cross Plains, WI.  Find us there the last two weekends of September and every weekend in October.  If we aren’t there with our full set up we will have someone from our amazing staff to sell on our behalf.  It may be a table with our amazing goodness and we will have all of our flavors.  Stop by and see us, Lori, Syndee, Angelia, Alexis, Yasmine and Erik.

Mushroom corn – Butterfly corn and the winner is?????

Well poppin friends, we tried out mushroom corn last weekend and we really liked the way that it popped, less “old maids”, large, fluffier kernels.  Now, you are probably thinking = what they hey dilly is Mushroom Corn right?

Well, I shall explain:

The primary difference between mushroom and butterfly popcorn is the shape of the kernel. Mushroom kernels are more round and compact which provides a larger surface area for coatings to stick to, making it perfect for gourmet confections such as kettle and caramel corn.  And in our case – Kettle Korn!!!

Here are some pictures of what we popped and the batches may be smaller, however we like the end product better.  The cost of mushroom corn is a bit more expensive than what we have been using, however, we are going to absorb those costs for now, keep our pricing as is ($5.00/sm, $7.00/lg) and make a go of it.

Due to some potential weather issues this weekend we won’t be setting up our normal tent and kettle at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church Spring Craft fair, but we will be inside selling our sweet, salty delicious treat.  So if you are in the “market” for us to be at an event but no space outside for us – we will pre-pop and bring our product to you and sell inside at a table.

Till next time!

Kettle Korn By Matty is a PROUD sponsor of Team Wrecking Ballz Volleyball Team!  Another marketing way to get our name and business “out there” for anyone interested in our business and booking our event services.

Yes – we are pretty stoked – ok Cath is……

Our new slogan is:  “He Pops – She Promotes”     pretty catchy eh?  We thought so!

2017 Popping season is OPEN

The Jefferson Home show on Saturday March 25 & 26th kicked off this year’s kettle korn season for Kettle Korn By Matty.

It was a crummy, rainy, dreary, foggy weekend which then makes popping kettle korn that much more difficult due to the moisture in the air.  Plus it makes for difficult working conditions for us.

We were blessed to have our son Josh with us as he learns to be a master popper so that he can run his own crew at the Harry Potter Festival in October held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.  We are super stoked about that weekend and it’s only March!

We do have some good news as we have invested in a second popper that is the 80Qt Lil Slugger with an automatic stir feature.  It will take us some getting used to, however it should produce more yumminess faster for us!

We also staffed a table at the Inaugural Spring Shopping Extravaganza at the Cambridge Winery in Cambridge, WI on Saturday March 25th and enjoyed meeting new people who came to shop and yes gobble up some yummy kettle corn.

During our weekend adventures we met some great people including Barbara Endl, Executive Director of Tomorrow’s Hope in Jefferson, WI and Jennifer at The Cinnamon Stick in Madison, WI.  Fingers crossed new partnerships will form with these two awesome ladies in the upcoming future.  Stay tuned for sure!

A huge thanks to all who came to both events this weekend!  Especially, Melissa, Krista, Paul, Karen, Richard, Susan, Steve, Art and I am sure we missed others.

Hopefully this video will come through – if not click on the link to our Facebook page to view our awesome “Assistant Manager” Jonie who staffed our table at the Cambridge Event on Saturday.

New bookings –

Well – as I sit here in sunny, balmy Mesa, AZ on vacation I have just finished updating our Google events calendar and my oh my are we booked this year.  I still need to create our Facebook Events on our Facebook page, but how exciting is this season going to be.

We are now booked for every weekend starting with September through the last weekend in October.  You will find us at Enchanted Valley Acres Family Farm for their annual Fall Fest every weekend EXCEPT for October 20 – 22nd and you will then find us popping our crazy minds out at the Third Annual Harry Potter Festival in Jefferson, WI at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

We have booked our first Family Reunion in June, Capitol City Farmers Markets every Wednesday night at the Fresh Market on Cottage Grove Road, every other Saturday at the Madison Speedway Market at the Oregon Speedway, applied to be a vendor at the 2017 Taste of Madison, a Vendor at the Harry Potter Festival in October and the Annual National Night Out Event in Jefferson, WI.

WOW – that’s just a small sample of what we will be up to beginning March 25th at the Jefferson Home Show at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

And best yet – Look for Kettle Korn By Matty as a sponsor of Team Wrecking Ballz a local volleyball team in Madison – yep – getting our name and awesome product out there!

Our new Logo and Business Cards

Matty and I are SUPER EXCITED to introduce to you our new logo and business card!

It’s been in the process over the last three months and with a lot of feedback from all of our kettle korn fanatics/friends & family we decided on BLUE!!!

We know that the yellow one was by far the fan favorite, however we wanted to be unique, creative and something that people will remember. (we hope – right?)

So check our event calendar for open dates to book your next event with Kettle Korn By Matty, you will NOT be disappointed.

Harry Potter Festival 2017

Well Kettle Korn fans we have found out that this year’s Harry Potter Festival will be held in Jefferson, WI on October 20 – 22, 2017.

We are uber excited for this event as last year we debuted Hogwarts Kettle Korn that was a HUGE HIT!!!  Hogwarts Kettle Korn will be back in full force and we can’t wait.

Check out the link below on Channel3000 for additional information.  Unfortunately, Edgerton will not be hosting the festival this year, but moving it to Jefferson is a smart move and easy commute for many!

Our first Blog

Well folks – time to get our website up and running along with learning how to “blog”…..with the help of our amazing friend Jonie, she has helped us create our new website along with teaching me (Cathryn) how all of this stuff works.

Tweeting – Pinning – Blogging:  All new terms for me to understand and then to make sure that we are communicating/reaching our awesome fans the easiest way possible.  Now – easy – not so easy is what I am learning but bear with us we will get it all straight.

We are rapidly booking events for 2017 and just confirmed the other day as a vendor at the Madison Speedway Market, which will occur every other Saturday morning beginning on May 13, 2017.  The market will be located right on the speedway grounds of the famous Oval Track where Matt Kenseth won his first short track championship which launched his NASCAR career!

Here is the Speedway website, however the Market will have a site up soon!
